Have you ever used castor oil before?

I have started using it as a regular part of my self-care routine, and I have enjoyed amazing results, and I’d like to share a few of them with you here.

In this first post of a 3-post-series, I want to discuss castor oil pack benefits for your skin and eyelash health.

Let’s look at how castor oil works and why you should consider using it, too!

Is Castor Oil Good for Skin Health?

Healthy skin relies on a healthy diet, but for a little something extra, you can use castor oil to replenish your skin.

While castor oil is well known as an oral laxative, it has been used worldwide for treating acne, and inflammation, and reducing wrinkles.

Not surprisingly, it’s also found in many beauty products thanks to its intensely hydrating effects. Best of all, it moisturizes without clogging pores or causing irritation.

When it’s cold outside, it’s even more important to nourish our skin, as the dry air outside and indoors sucks moisture from your body. A dull, flaky, and drier complexion is the natural result.

Castor oil, however, can change that.

High in fatty acids, traps water in your skin, preventing the winter air from depleting your moisture. It also creates a barrier that reduces the likelihood of moisture evaporating from your skin.

Layering castor oil on top of your favorite moisturizer is my recommendation for an extra dewy appearance.

Castor Oil for Eyelash Health

I love using castor oil for eyelash health. I apply it frequently and have noticed a dramatic difference in the length and health of my eyelashes. One way it works for your eyelashes is that moisturized ones are less likely to become brittle and fall off.

If you have sensitive eyes, proceed with caution and use a small amount of castor oil before making it a part of your routine.

Here’s how I recommend applying castor oil to your eyelashes…

How To Apply Castor Oil To Your Eyelashes

Step 1.  Buy a clean mascara wand or a clean eyeliner brush.

Step 2. Cleanse your face, removing all makeup from your eyes.

Step 3. Dip your brush into your castor oil and apply it carefully to your upper and lower lash line. Create a thorough coat on each lash.

Step 4. Leave the oil on your lashes overnight.

Step 5. Upon waking up the next morning, use a makeup wipe or rose water to completely remove the oil from your eyelashes.

I also like using Olive oil with my castor oil. Olive oil is high in vitamins E and A and has loads of antioxidants. The combination is super beneficial for lashes.

To use olive oil, follow these steps:

Step 1. Grab an empty container or bottle and store this mixture.

Step 2. Pour two tablespoons of olive oil and two tablespoons of castor oil into the bottle.

Step 3. Blend the oils together thoroughly.

Step 4. Use the aforementioned mascara wand or eyeliner brush to repeat the above steps.

What You Should Know Before Using Castor Oil on Your Eyelashes

It’s important not to get it into your eye when you’re using castor oil. Of course, if you do, flush your eyes with lots of water.

Castor oil is safe to use, but you could react to it if you have a particular sensitivity.

What Is The Best Castor Oil to Use?

Any castor oil will produce amazing effects for your skin and eyelashes, but my recommendation is “Queen of the Thrones” organic castor oil. I use it frequently and have had wonderful results.
