Is there a better time than summer? The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and our bodies come alive. But as much as I love the summer season, it does come with bug bites and stress from travel and work. That’s when I turn to my favorite summer essential oils. Here are my top 10 summer essential oil blends to add to your daily skincare/healthy routine.

1.      Bay Laurel

You’re probably more familiar with Bay Laurel as a cooking herb than as an essential oil. However, its history dates back to ancient cultures and it was used for good luck and flavor for multiple soups and meat dishes. It also has multiple health benefits such as providing cleansing properties, antioxidants, and immune support. I frequently incorporate Bay Laurel into lymphatic massage sessions for wellness support.

2. Copaiba

Copaiba is an essential oil derived from the gum resin of the Brazilian copaiba tree. You can take it internally to increase your overall wellness and daily regimen. You can also add a few drops of it to your herbal tea to promote wellness and relaxation. It’s a great addition to skin care moisturizers for beautiful skin.

3.      Lemon

I adore citrus scents in the summer season. Lemon is one of those essential oils. It promotes sleep, calm, and increases focus and clarity. You can blend it into your nighttime moisturizer and other skincare products but be aware that lemon is photosensitive so do not apply to areas that will be directly exposed to the sun within 12 hours. 1 drop is all you need!

4.      Lime

Lime is similar to lemon. It is a beautiful addition to your essential oil collection and has restorative and tonic properties. If you’re looking for a summer essential oil blend, then try lime with rosemary or lavender for a fresh, yummy experience.

5.     Grapefruit

Grapefruit essential oil is derived from the grapefruit plant. For centuries, people have used it to support weight loss and reduce stress. Grapefruit has an uplifting aroma that surely will put a smile on your face. I love to use it during the summer months since the fruit is in season.

6.     Lemongrass

As a lymphatic massage therapist, I enjoy Lemongrass for muscle relaxation and for stress relief. For everyday use, I like to suggest lemongrass for stress and emotional well being.

7.     Lavender

Lavender essential oil is excellent all year round. There is a reason lavender is oftentimes called “the mother of essential oils.” You really cannot go wrong with this precious essential oil. It has a natural calming effect, which makes it the perfect solution to help reduce stress. I love to use it in a diffuser to promote relaxation when I’m at work or winding down for the evening. It’s another top pick for skin care also, to help enhance your complexion.

8.     Chamomile

German chamomile is my favorite chamomile essential oil. It has been used for thousands of years and dates all the way back to Ancient Rome and Egypt. It is distilled from the flowers of the chamomile plant. You can even toss it into your favorite salad or take it as a dietary supplement. For me, I find it to be calming and great for promoting positive thinking habits.

9.     Ginger

Ginger essential oil is great for summer essential oil blends. I recommend adding a drop to your tea for soothing, hot drink even during those warm summer days. You can also add it to your favorite ginger-friendly dish or take it as a capsule to promote better digestion.

10.  Spearmint

Hydration is critical during the summer. I love Spearmint for hydration. Add it to a glass of fruit infused water or a couple of drops of it in tea to promote healthy digestion.

Summer is for having fun, relaxing by the water, and enjoying yourself. Make your summer even sweeter with these lovely summer essential oils.
